Welcome to Chronic Convos

Welcome to Chronic Convos. I’m your podcast host and writer, Mia de Rauch.

You are likely listening (or reading) Chronic Convos because you have your own story of chronic struggles.
There are so many of us with invisible conditions. The issues that are happening inside that are completely unknown to others.
I want to hear your stories. Everyone I have interviewed so far has been so different. The condition, the experience and the diagnosis. That is why I started this podcast “Chronic Convos”. So that people from all walks of life could talk about what they are going through every day.

My interest in all this took shape last year. I’ve had some pain most of my life, hopefully, this year we will get down to the real problem. When I was 22, I was in pre-production, producing my first feature film. I could no longer get a full meal down and I’d never been a big eater in the first place. So I went to the doctor (again). I’d already had several tests and X-rays even. This time, a new doctor sent me for a CT scan. They found an anomaly and I went into surgery two days later. It resulted in one ovary and fallopian tube being removed.
I don’t know if it is back or what is happening. But at the moment I’m back on medication and working through it. Along with that, I’ve had a colonoscopy every three months since mid-last year and it doesn’t seem to be stopping any time soon. Polyps. Oh, joy.
The doctors say that Polyps don’t cause pain…but I’m not sure about that. My bowels seem to say otherwise.

It’s my journey that has had me fascinated by other people’s stories of their chronic conditions. This podcast and blog is my way of giving everyone who lives in pain physically or mentally a voice.
